Though I don’t know much about beauty pageants, what I do know is that were I ever in one, I would begin all my answers with: “Well, Mario Lopez, as they say on General Hospital…” and then end them with “…in conclusion, in no way am I in favor of world peace.”
My lack of knowledge notwithstanding, if there was a crown given for Miss (or Mr.) Universe of rock shows, it would be U2′s current 360 World Tour. There simply hasn’t been a more awe-inspiring rock show ever (with the possible exception of the short lived Paris Hilton / Betty White duets tour, that is).
Much has been discussed about the most beautiful stage built for a concert in the stadium rock age, and now folks will be able to enjoy U2′s live gem in the comfort of their living rooms.
U2 360 At The Rose Bowl (official title) will be released in the UK on DVD and Blu-ray on June 7 and in the US on June 3, 2010.
The show, which was originally streamed on YouTube around the world in late 2009, will come in a variety of formats—a single DVD, Blu-Ray, and the “Super Deluxe” 2-disc DVD box set with bonus material and exclusive content—for all price ranges. Indeed, the show will be U2′s first to be released in Blu-Ray.
The only thing that’s certain is that U2’s release of the beauty crown-worthy U2 360 At The Rose Bowl will be a welcome addition not only to U2 fan libraries, but to music aficionados everywhere. And unlike the recordings of my flirting with operators at the taxi complaint hotline, this is actually a memento worth having.—Jaime Rodriguez, Contributing Writer, Photos by U2.com (DVD cover) and Salomao Nunes

Even when U2 do something great (releasing this great show on DVD) they also manage to drive one crazy. Why in the world do they omit the show opener (Breathe) from the setlist??? Yes it’s included as a bonus track on the deluxe DVD set, but why why why would they not have it as the standard, so that the show is presented as it was performed. Man they can be infuriating.
